Prayer for Building Your Business

0:54 min prayer

Building a business? Pray for God's leadership, wisdom, and blessing over your enterprise. Trust Him to guide the work of your hands.

This is a prayer over your business, for the moment you stop trying to carry the whole thing on your own back and hand it to God. Before you ask Him to bless it, you give it to Him. The work, the investment, the outcome, all of it. Pray this as you build, and ask God to make the work of your hands honest, fruitful, and pointed at something bigger than profit.

A Word Before You Pray

Let me tell you the trap most of us fall into. We work like it all depends on us, then we pray like a quick afterthought once we are already stressed. We have the order backwards. You surrender first, then you build.

Here is what Scripture says. Psalm 90 prays establish the work of our hands. Proverbs says commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established. Notice God does not say sit back and do nothing. He says do the work and give Him the results. You bring the diligence. He brings the favor you could never manufacture on your own.

And watch your why. This prayer asks for integrity, generosity, and fruitfulness, in that order. Not just money. A business God blesses is one that stays honest when cutting corners would be easier and stays generous when keeping it all would be tempting. So before you pray this, give Him more than your business plan. Give Him the kind of person you are going to be while you build it.

The Prayer

Lord, I give you all that I am and all that I hold. I ask your guidance as I build and shape this business. I trust that you will bless the work of my hands. I pray that you cover this enterprise and cover this investment. I believe in your leadership and that you will guide me and advise me. Lord, I thank you that this business will be a venture full of integrity, generosity, and fruitfulness. Lord, I give you all that I am and all that I hold. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

How to Use This Prayer

Pray it before the big decisions, not just after they go sideways. Pray it over a launch, a deal, a hire, an investment. Say it at the start of the workday so the whole day runs under it.

Surrender and effort are not opposites. You give God the outcome and then you go work hard like it matters, because it does. When the pressure rises or the numbers scare you, come back to this prayer, give Him the business again, and take the next faithful step.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good prayer over my business?

A good prayer over your business surrenders it to God before you ask Him to bless it. Give Him the whole thing, ask for His guidance and wisdom as you build, and ask Him to make the work honest and fruitful. You are not just praying for profit. You are inviting God to lead the enterprise.

What does it mean to ask God to bless the work of my hands?

It comes from Psalm 90:17, where the psalmist asks God to establish the work of our hands. It means you do your part with diligence and ask God to add His favor to your effort. You still work hard. You just stop pretending the results depend on you alone.

Can I pray for my business to succeed?

Yes, and Scripture backs it. Proverbs 16:3 says commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established. God cares about your work. Just keep your heart in check, because success in His hands is meant for integrity and generosity, not only personal gain, so that it blesses others too.

How to Hear God

How to Hear God: He Still Speaks is a blueprint for assisting people who want to get in tune with the voice of God. God has not changed and wants to communicate with us as He did with Adam in the garden of Eden. The direction our lives have taken is a direct result of the voices we have chosen to follow. It would make sense to follow the voice of God who knows the best plan and directions for our journey on earth. The question is simply, If God had some information that could change your life for the better, would you want it? If God had answers to questions, you needed answered, would you want it. Well, guess what He does! The real question for all of us, is have we taken the time to build the requisite relationship that fosters the answers to our questions. This book will be a great tool in building a more meaningful relationship with God. We were created with two ears and one mouth, so we should spend more time listening than talking.
