2:03 min prayer
Powerful intercessory prayer for unsaved friends and family. Stand in the gap for the lost, break spiritual strongholds, and pray for their salvation in Jesus' name.
You probably have a name in mind already, someone you love who does not know Jesus yet. This is a prayer for them, and for the lost everywhere, an intercession that stands in the gap for people who cannot yet pray for themselves. The real battle for a soul is not won by arguing harder. It is won on your knees, against an enemy who works to keep the truth out. Pray this when you are carrying the unsaved on your heart and want to fight for them the way Scripture actually tells us to.
A Word Before You Pray
Paul opens his instructions on prayer with this: that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people. Before anything else, pray for them. That is the assignment. And notice the prayer does not aim at the person as the enemy. It aims at the real opposition, the strongholds and the blinding lies the enemy uses to keep people from seeing the gospel.
That changes how you pray. Instead of just repeating "God, save them," you start praying with the weapons Scripture names. You ask the Lord of the harvest to send the right laborer across their path, because faith comes by hearing, and God knows exactly who they will listen to even when it is not you. You ask Him to break down the proud arguments and pull back the blindness. Your job is not to argue someone into the kingdom. It is to pray the obstacles out of the way and trust God to draw them.
So before you pray this, settle one thing. God wants them saved even more than you do. You are not begging a reluctant God. You are partnering with a willing one.
The Prayer
Father, it is written in Your Word, in 1 Timothy 2:1, that I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered on behalf of all men. Therefore, Father, we bring the lost of this world, every man, woman, and child, from here to the furthest corner of the earth, before You.
As we intercede, we use our faith, believing that thousands this day will have the opportunity to make Jesus their Lord and their Savior. Father, we know that Satan will prevent these from hearing the truth if possible. We are human, but we do not wage war with human plans and methods. We use God's mighty weapons to knock down the devil's strongholds. With these weapons, we break down every proud argument that keeps people from knowing God.
With these weapons, we conquer their rebellious ideas and teach them to obey Christ. We ask the Lord of the harvest to thrust the perfect laborers across these lives this day, to share the gospel news in a special way so they will listen and understand. We believe that they will not be able to resist the wooing of the Holy Spirit, and that You, Father, will bring them to repentance by Your goodness and Your love.
We confess that we shall see those who have never heard or been told of Jesus understand the gospel. And they shall come out of the snare of the devil who has held them captive. They shall open their eyes and turn from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to You, God. In the name of Jesus, we declare and decree. Amen.
How to Use This Prayer
Pray it with names. Drop the specific people God has put on your heart into it, and pray each piece over them, the right laborer crossing their path, the blindness lifting, their eyes opening. Then live like you believe it, treating them with love instead of nagging them toward Jesus.
You are not the only laborer God can send, but you might be one of them. So pray to send laborers, and stay willing to be one. Keep showing up for this even when nothing seems to be moving, because the wait is not the same as a no. Pair it with 1 Timothy 2:1 or Matthew 9:38, and keep interceding until you see the harvest.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I pray for someone who isn't saved?
Pray bigger than just save them. Ask God to send the right person across their path, since faith comes by hearing, and ask Him to soften their heart and pull back whatever is blinding them. Thank Him that He already wants them saved more than you do. Then keep showing them Jesus with your life, not just your words.
Do my prayers actually help someone get saved?
Yes, though not like a magic button that overrides their will. God still honors a person's choice, so your prayers do not force them. What they do is real, clearing obstacles, inviting laborers, opening a hardened heart to actually hear. Scripture is full of people changed partly because someone would not stop praying for them. Keep going.
What does it mean to pray to the Lord of the harvest?
It comes from Matthew 9:38, where Jesus says the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few, so pray the Lord of the harvest to send out workers. Praying it means asking God to put the right person in your lost friend's path, someone they will actually listen to, since God knows exactly who that is.
Why should I keep praying when they still haven't changed?
Because timing belongs to God, not you, and a delay is not a denial. People you love can take years to turn, and Scripture says God is patient, not wanting anyone to perish. Your job is to keep interceding and keep trusting, leaving the when and the how to Him. Many testimonies start with someone who refused to quit praying.
